Discover Carrie Bradshaw-Worthy Finds for All Budgets

With this week’s release of the Sex and the City movie,
fans will finally get the answers to their burning questions. Will Carrie and
Big stay together? Will Miranda and Steve split up? Will Charlotte have a baby?
Will Samantha replace Smith with an even hotter high schooler? And, most
importantly: What is Carrie wearing?
Rumor has it that Sarah Jessica Parker had more than 80
wardrobe changes for the film, which adds up to a big heap o’ fabulousness and a
truckload of trends that are sure to catch on like Cosmos at a bachelorette
party. Here are three of Carrie’s signature looks from the film, with tips for
making the look your own.
The Look: Modern-Day Annie Hall Pink striped button-down, cropped white test, white
trousers, and a black scarf tie
Make like Carrie and give this menswear concept a feminine
edge. Layer the
Chulo Pony Edie Crop Vest over this
Pink Tailored Taj Stripe Women’s Shirt from Thomas Pink and pair with
Chulo Pony’s matching Els Sailor Pants in porcelain. We say skip the tie,
but if you feel daring steal one from your boyfriend’s closet or throw on a
Black Silk Scarf and pin on your favorite gold brooch.
The Look: Garden Party Chic Bold floral prints paired with hard-edged accessories
(studded black leather belts, dramatic strappy heels) Look for prints with big blooms.
J.Crew’s Brushstroke-Print Sydney Dress (go for the Kelly Green version to
mimic Carrie’s look) fits the bill nicely; just keep it high fashion by adding
‘tough’ accessories like
Corso Como’s studded Gia sandal. Other rosy alternatives for all budgets:
Shoshanna’s Belted Floral-Print Dress;
Forever 21’s Holly Floral Bubble Dress (throw a black leather belt over the
midsection);
Karta’s Dropped Waist Dress; and
Lida Baday’s Floral Print Slipdress. And if you’ve got $3,000 burning a hole
in your pocket, Carrie’s Swarovski crystal-drenched
Eiffel Tower purse from designer Timmy Woods can be yours.
The Look: One-Shoulder Wonder A shoulder-baring dress (with or without oversized flower) Okay, so strutting down Fifth Avenue with a giant flower on
your shoulder may sound more like the aftermath of a round of Truth or Dare than
a realistic fashion venture, but that doesn’t mean Carrie’s white one-shoulder
cocktail dress is worth Xeroxing. Try the trend in
Milly’s neon-accented version,
Tufi Duek’s chiffon Brenda Dress, or
Bebe’s One-Shouldered Embroidered Wonder Dress.
