Beauty Copycat: Gwyneth Paltrow's New 'Do
Forget about the piles of money Iron Man is raking in…let’s dish about Gwyneth Paltrow’s new ‘do. After years of sporting stick-straight locks longer than Dakota Fanning, Gwynnie has finally gotten the chop (and by ‘chop,’ I mean a haircut, not diced and delivered by Kevin Spacey again). Love the fresh new look? Ouidad, the Queen of the Curl, has some insider tips to scoring the style.
First, it’s important to give your stylist some proper direction. “Gwyneth's hair is cut into the classic bob with a little of slicing on the upper layer for added texture,” Ouidad says. She also recommends using her Deep Treatment on a regular basis to keep strands conditioned and “extra silky.”
But as we all know, the right cut is only half the battle. Read on for Ouidad’s step-by-step styling advice on mastering Gwyneth’s sexy wave.
“If you have curly hair, use my patented Rake & Shake method. Start at the bottom of the scalp (the nape) and apply gel to small sections of hair. Rake your hand (with gel) through each section from the top to the bottom and shake. This creates movement in the hair and sets the curl pattern. Proceed with additional sections of hair, then clip hair at the roots to create height and diffuse to create volume. Finish the look by adding a dollop of Ouidad Shine Glaze.
If you’re working with straight hair, blow the hair dry section by section with a medium round, natural bristle brush. Proceed by using a medium-size curling iron on strands closest to the face. Curl small sections of hair by wrapping them around the barrel, unwinding, and letting them cool. Repeat around the scalp section by section and finish with Ouidad Styling Mist to set.”
