Hot Handbags on a Budget

Where can I get a nice, good quality purse for fall without breaking the bank? Ideally, I'd only like to shell out $75 max.

Head straight to Piperlime. The online haunt is now so much more than just a shoe haven. They also offer fabulous designer bags at various price points.

For your needs, check out the Real Steals Under $100 department. You'll find this versatile, slouchy Chinese Laundry Knot Tote ($65) to keep your essentials in one chic location all season long.

In this perfectly neutral shade of mustard and an equally fabulous cream color, it transitions well from season to season and looks just right with nearly everything. Bonus: No one will ever know the buttery soft material isn't really leather.

Get Red-dy for Fall Cosmetic Trends

I want to introduce some new fall shades into my makeup palette. Any recommendations?

Good question. With so many irresistible items cropping up everyday, it can be tough deciding what to actually buy. I checked in with celebrity makeup artist DeeDee Marcelli to get the full scoop.

"Remember red? Bold lips are coming into play for the fall season. This time, however, it's done with a twist! Instead of over-lining the lips and adding layers of red color, try using a stain or perhaps dot the lips and smudge. That way you get the color, but you leave out the shock value. It also makes wearing red for fall very easy for anyone."

Achieve a modern red lip with the fabulous Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte ($34) in Red Taboo. It's reminiscent of Hollywood starlets who really knew how to play up their sex appeal in the most classy way.

Rachel Bilson and DKNY Jeans Team Up

So many celebs are creating fashion lines now. Which ones are hot and which are not so great?

The celebrities-as-designers brigade grows a little stronger every month. Though just being a well-known name seems to be the only qualification required for some folks (LL Cool J for Sears? Avril Lavigne for Kohls? Yep.), others actually bring something a little intriguing to the table.

Rachel Bilson recently collaborated with DKNY Jeans to launch Edie Rose, a capsule collection of dresses, jackets, jeans and more versatile pieces, all at reasonable price points. Pieces are selling out already, but select items are available online right now, including this fabulous overdye stretch denim jacket ($89).

First Impressions: Great Date Outfits

I have a date and I'm not really sure what to wear. We're going to dinner but he didn't give me any other information. I don't want to look overdressed, but I also don't want to look too casual. Any thoughts?

In situations like this, I like to take a cue from Audrey Hepburn, who dressed flawlessly no matter what the occasion. That doesn't mean you have to show up in skinny black pants and a turtleneck sweater, but keeping your ensemble chic and simple will ensure you fit in just about anywhere.

You can't go wrong with dark denim jeans (skinny or wide, your choice), a slinky tank in a shade like berry or wine, a lightweight cardigan, like this merino wool v-neck ($69) and a pair of sexy heels to finish the look.

Balance it out with one statement bauble – a large pendant, for example, plays beautifully against solids and adds a fun touch to your outfit.

Purple Picks for the Season

Purple is such a hot color for the fall, showing up in clothing, shoes, handbags, the works. I'd like to add this color to my wardrobe but don't want to go overboard or choose items I'll never wear again. What should I pick and what should I forget about?

As trendy as purple is right now, it's fortunately also a color that will always be relevant during the fall. There's something about any regal, magnificent color – wine, berry, eggplant all fit the bill – that resonates beautifully with brisk weather, colorful foliage and the generally festive spirit of the season.

If you want to keep it minimal, though, rely on purple as an accent. Liven up a gray suit with a ruffled plum blouse, or add a pop of color to a neutral dress with a brilliant violet clutch or dramatic raisin heels, like these fabulous Calvin Klein Kays ($110).

If longevity is a concern, resist the temptation to splurge on big-ticket, trend-driven items that won't interest you in even a few months. You can always add a few cheap touches of purple, too – think costume jewelry and just about anything from Target.

Updated Eyebrows for Fall

I usually pluck my eyebrows, but I've decided that I need to start getting them waxed. Should I be going for a specific look? I've heard big brows are back in, but I've also heard skinny ones are. Any ideas?

Full brows are all over the runways right now – and not just Brooke Shields-esque full, either. You might spot some heavy, sculpted, almost severe shapes. The look can be edgy and even flattering if the rest of the face is minimally made up.

Exceptionally thick, overdone brows don't necessarily look natural if they aren't a basic part of your everyday look, though. Play with a luscious brow by opting for something that errs on the thick side but is well groomed and defined with a clean arch.

If you need a little help keeping those brows in place, use a brow gel, like the ever-popular one by Anastasia Beverly Hills ($21).
